Many find themselves struggling to care for an older adult when it comes to physically helping them with their day to day activities. Knowing how best to lift and move a full grown adult can be challenging and dangerous at times. How best to get someone in/out of bed or on to/off of the toilet can be confusing and and people need practical answers fast. Caregiver Guides aims to help you solve the frustrating day-to-day problems that are physically demanding and that can lead to injuries.
With the internet, there’s no shortage of information available to family caregivers. But a lot of the information for caregivers revolves around important (but intangible) aspects of “burn-out”, depression, self-care and such, but not the strategies and techniques of “hands-on caregiving”. To be honest, much of what’s out there can be confusing and impractical when it comes right down to it. Our goal is to provide a resource that provides education and information for the most common mobility needs that caregivers look for.
Although we stress that our website is for educational and informational purposes only, the approaches to optimizing function mobility in the older adult have been developed of the course of 25 years of professional study and application and are based on the unchanging principles of human movement.
